In this assignment I have documented the essential tools needed to look after a horse without actually photographing a horse. I chose to photograph this because it is something that interests me so I found it easier to photograph than something that I had no interest in. My aim with this theme was to show people who don't have horses what is needed to look after them.
My idea slightly changed throughout the assignment as after I had taken my photos I decided that the mucking out tools worked better than the feed, hay, water etc. so I decided to create my final image using just the tools instead of everything, however some of my images were either over exposed or under exposed so I was limited to the images I could use.
For this assignment I was using a Canon EOS 70D digital camera with a 28-80mm lens, I had the camera on manual mode with auto focus on for the majority of the photos. For some photos where I needed a bigger zoom I used my 70-300mm lens.
The only problems I encountered in this assignment was the timings for taking pictures as other people were using the tools when I was hoping to take my photographs so I had to wait for a bit, but it was easily solved and didn't affect my whole shoot as I was not limited to a certain time frame to complete it in.
Overall I am quite pleased with my final image, although it is not quite what I intended to create at the beginning of this assignment I am still pleased with it. At the beginning of the assignment my idea was to have a collage of photos of everything needed to look after a horse including feed, hay, water etc. however when it came to actually taking the photos i found that these sort of photos worked the best therefore I just stuck to photographing the tools needed for mucking out.
I feel that my strongest singular image from this shoot is the pink muck scoop that I have used in my final, this is because I feel it really stands out against the background.
I think my weakest image from this final image is the brush in the middle, I feel this is because it is at a slightly tilted angle and the bottom of it is quite overexposed, so the brush handle slightly blends into the background. The colour of the brush is also the same sort of colour as the background so it doesn't stand out as much as the muck scoop and fork.
If I were to re-do this final image I would try and use more of a variety of tools, by doing this I would then be able to produce a longer sequence and it would be easier to get my theme across. To do this i would first do a re shoot to ensure that all my images were up to the same high quality as my pink muck scoop. If I were to do this I feel i would have a much stronger final image.
